Lyrical Commission - The Stage Is Set (CD/LP) Unkut
Coming outta Melbourne, 'Lyrical Commission' consists of Trem, Brad Strut, Bob Balans, J-Red. All members have had solo projects and this release symbolizes years of building skillz in lyrics, beat chopping & digging.
Highlights are 'Beyond Average' showcasing some ferocious battle rhymes. 'Custom Made' with DJ J-Red is a high note bringing back the song dedicated to the DJ. 'Got a problem pt2', reworking of the Bob's classic off COK2.
If you appreciate finely crafted lyrics & hard head nodding beats, this is for you! Nice packaging from Skribble Studios, NO abstract flows / production here, just straight down the line quality Hip Hop.

Lyrical Commission - The Stage Is Set
Yo what can I say? This is the first time I ever heard Australian Hip Hop before. With no disrespect intended, the vision I saw was Crocodile Dundee and his bar thugs spittin raps.... Dundee was gangsta, don't get it twisted! But nah, for real, these muthaf#ckas set it off right, they got a good approach to the music and like they say, they ain't tryin' to make any "gaylord music shit". I follow the same guidelines, I like the raw shit. This is a good first impression for me for Hip Hop from the outback. The set up reminds me of an Australian version of Gang Starr... bangin beats, good rhymes and very well executed complex flows, precisely scratched hooks (and they get extra points for scratchin vocals from my fam, Vinnie Paz and Esoteric). Topics range from battle type shit to local politics to social issues to just punchin muthaf#ckas in the face and I can relate 100%.... so if I ever get a chance to come out there, holla at me y'all, we can drink some muthaf#ckin beer and holla at some bitches, aight???
